Nancy Glaser Ciskowski passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2020 at her home in Spencer, IN, in the company of her husband Thomas. She was 75.
Nancy was born on July 2, 1944 in Berwyn, Illinois, to Marvin Ernst and Laura Grzanich Glaser. Growing up, Nancy’s family moved between Berwyn, Indianapolis, and Lincoln, Nebraska, before settling again in Indianapolis. She graduated from Scecina Memorial High School, and matriculated at Purdue University, where she met Tom at a freshman mixer. She graduated in 1965 with a major in Psychology and married Tom in 1966.
Nancy valued being connected to the community and supported causes through her work and charity. Before giving birth to three sons, she worked as a case worker with the Boone County Welfare Department. She later resumed her career with IUPUI, working in both Women’s Studies and the School of Continuing Studies, before retiring as an Assistant Director. She was active in amateur archaeology with the Indianapolis Amateur Archaeological Association, in conservation with the Friends of Goose Pond, in elder care with the Indiana Area 10 Agency on Aging, and was a Master Gardner. A devout Catholic, Nancy was an active member of the congregation of St. Jude the Apostle in Spencer. Guided by her faith, Nancy freely gave her time to others and cherished family and friends. She loved travel, gardening, walks with her dogs, and was a voracious reader.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Thomas; her sons David (Holly) Ciskowski of Indianapolis, Matthew (Eunice) Ciskowski of Fairfax, VA, and Luke (Kathy) Ciskowski of Franklin; her grandchildren Jacob, Andrew, Isaiah, Abigail, and Evelyn; and seven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joyce and brother Marvin Edward Glaser.
Those who knew Nancy will always remember her kind heart, her thoughtful intellect, her quiet humor, and her deep faith.
