Max O. Wood, Jr., age 61, of Spencer, passed away at 12:48 am on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada on May 5, 1959, the son of Max O. Wood, Sr. & Phyllis (King) Bagwell.
He was a 1977 graduate of Mooresville High School. He retired from Diamond Chain after 39 years of dedicated work then went to work for Cook Medical for a few years. He was a member of the Owen County Democratic Party, Band and Guard for years, Board of Directors for Open Arms and S.O.U.N.D.S.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sandra (Edwards) Wood of Spencer; mother, Phyllis Bagwell of Mooresville; children, James (Maggie) Farmer of Spencer, Jeremy (Beth) Farmer of Cloverdale, Megan (Mikel Prather) Wood of Los Angeles, CA and Casandra (Max Mendiola) Wood of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Cierra Farmer, Hailey Farmer, Willie Vance, Torrence Farmer and Mackenzie Farmer; great granddaughter, Willow Vance; siblings, Alice Inman, Marilyn Wood, Arthur Wood, Arlana Wood, Krystal Simmons and Steve Bagwell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Max, Sr.; step-father, Dale Bagwell; grandson, Thomas James Farmer and great grandson, Charles Vance.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer on Sunday, April 11, 2021 with Pastor Bill Purcell officiating.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Community Foundation through the funeral home.
