Larry Dean Thomas, age 73, of Freedom, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 26, 2020. He was born in Brazil on July 23, 1947, the son Jesse Thomas & Rosemary (Nevins) Thomas.
Larry served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam from Sept. 1966 to Sept. 1972. He and his father built, owned and operated J & L Automotive in Cumberland for many years. He worked as a machinist for many years, retiring from Carquest in Bloomington in 2007.
Larry loved the Lord and attended Pleasant Hill Community Church. He was a life-long deer hunter and fisherman.
Larry is survived by his children, Ryan and wife Elizabeth Apo, Renee and husband John Denmark, grandchildren, Kaila Apo, Ariel Morgan, Isabelle Apo, Jacob Apo, Cora Jane Apo, Chloe Osmon, Jack Osmon, Leah Osmon, great-grandchildren, Kalani Apo, Brenick Morgan, Kahliel Flowers, a brother, Ronald Thomas in Indianapolis, and a sister, Margaret Humfleet in Pendleton.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Thomas and Rosemary Leuteritz, and wife, Melissa Jane (Summers) Thomas on April 23, 2020.
Private graveside services at the Splinter Ridge Cemetery in Owen County at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Community Church, 6261 Pleasant Hill Rd, Spencer, IN 47460.
