Wallace "Wally" L. Lane

September 10, 1941 ~ September 11, 2018 (age 77)

Wallace L. "Wally" Lane, 77, of Spencer, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.  Wally was born on September 10, 1941, in Owen County to Henry Franklin and Julia Elizabeth (Reynolds) Lane.  Wally and his brother Don owned D & W Home Builders where they built homes in Owen County for over 30 years.  Wally was the cofounder of the Owen County EMS, and cofounder of Owen County Habitat for Humanity.  He was baptized by close friend, Reverend Louis Crouch, and was a 45 year member of the United Methodist Church in Spencer, where he was a board member and served as a youth leader for over 30 years, and cofounded the Mark Mission Store.  Wally was also a board member of the Bloomington Hospital Advisory Board(Center for Behavioral Health). 

Wally is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Barbara J. (Schneider), children, Brad (Robin) Lane of Beech Grove, Georgianna (Noah) Wade of Spencer, Bryan (Angela) Lane, of Spencer, grandchildren, Mariah Stwalley, Jeremiah Stwalley, Amber DeCamp, Matthew Huffer-Lane, Caleb Wade, Ethan Wade, Noah Wade, Dominick Lane, Carlee Lane, Evan Lane, Frasier Lane, Krista Meek, Heidi Webb; great-grandchildren, Liam Bevington, Brooklyn Stwalley, Greyson Stwalley, Jace Payne, Devin Wade, Madi Meek, Gage Webb, Quynten Webb; brothers, Charles Lane, Donald (Patricia) Lane, and several nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William Lane, Samuel Lane, Harry Lane, Robert Lane, brother-in-law, Tommy Schneider, nephews Andrew Schneider, and Paul Richard Lane.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, September 14, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Spencer.  Reverends Douglas Finney, Drew Baker and Dr. Diane Wells will officiate.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
