Melvin Hulet Ramsay, age 76, of Gosport, passed away peacefully at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at his residence. He was born in McAlester, OK on October 29, 1941, the son of Melvon Ramsay & Leona Pearl (Evans) Ramsay-Clark.
Melvin was a graduate from San Diego State and received his masters from University of California San Diego. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He taught 5th and 6th grades in Brawley and El Centro, CA for 33 years.
Melvin served as a deacon, an elder, and a Sunday School teacher at First Christian Church in El Centro, CA. He was a member of Owen Valley Christian Fellowship in Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Becker) Ramsay of Gosport, son, Kyle Ramsay of Indianapolis, daughter, Kori (Chris) Wainscott of Gosport, two brothers, Joe (Deb) & Michael (Linda) Ramsay, his sisters, Arlene (Richard) Abbott, Darlene Drawe, Karen (Jim) Healy, and Susie (Robert) Edgar, sister-in-law, Georgia Ramsay, four grandchildren, Evan Ramsay, Iain Ramsay, Ramsay Grace Wainscott, and Mollie Wainscott, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Billy & Kenneth Ramsay.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Owen Valley Christian Fellowship in Spencer, with Jeff Hudelson officiating. Burial will be held in California at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Owen Valley Christian Fellowship Church building fund or Hilltop Christian Camp.
