Harold F. Creech, age 99, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 5:10 A.M. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington. He was born near Danville, Hendricks County, on January 26, 1920, the son of Fred M. & Florence (Hardwick) Creech. His mother passed away when he was age 3, and he and his siblings were raised by his uncle and aunt, Everett and Bessie Hardwick.
Harold was a 1937 graduate of Danville High School and a 1941 graduate of The School of Agriculture at Purdue University with a degree in soil science and a minor in chemistry.
Following college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp where he served in World War II.
Harold retired in 1975 after 34 years of federal service employment as a District Conservationist for the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service in Bloomfield. During his years of work he was also located in Worthington and Shoals prior to Bloomfield. He has spent 25 years assisting the Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Harold was a member of Glenburn Methodist Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Soil Conservation Service of America.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Ron) Stevenson of Peoria, IL, a son, Stephen (Peggy) Creech of Bloomington, four grandchildren, Angie & Jeff Stevenson, Wendi (Garth) Goodlett & Christin (Rob) Schippnick, and five great-grandchildren, Baileigh & Sydne Goodlett, and Ashlin, Tyler, & Landon Schippnick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lenora M. (Wheeler) Creech in 2009, two brothers, Farrell and Lindol Creech, and a sister, Nancy Neubert.
Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Linton at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, December 2, 2019, with military graveside rites presented by the American Legion Post #22 of Linton.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
