About West
& Parrish & Pedigo
Our History
Our funeral home is proud to be family owned and
operated.
Ed West and son, Harold, came to Spencer, Indiana in 1919 from
Cloverdale, Indiana and established a furniture store and funeral
business on the south side of the Spencer square.
In 1929, they moved to the present location at 105 North Montgomery
Street. Ed West passed away in 1949 and Harold in 1962. Arthur
Parrish joined the firm in 1938, and Steve Parrish in 1964. Steve
Pedigo joined the staff in 1977, just before Arthur Parrish passed
away that same year. Patrick Day joined the staff in
2007.
Our funeral home would not be where it is today if not for the
women who supported, and worked alongside those men mentioned
above: Doll West (wife of Harold West), Ella Mae Parrish (wife of
Arthur Parrish), Alice Parrish (wife of Steve Parrish), and Becky
Pedigo (wife of Steve Pedigo).
Since our humble beginnings over 90 years ago, the funeral
home has striven to offer a professional and classy approach in a
dignified and personal manner. Our service is conducted in a manner
befitting the tribute that you and your family wish to bestow. We
have evolved from a furniture store/funeral home to a place of
compassion and refuge, where you can take the first steps of grief,
and healing.
